Museums! Day 3

Here we are at the Firehouse Museum with a great collection of old time fire engines, hats, fire extinguishers (bottles with stuff in them that I guess you threw at the fire) and many other items.

Andrew and grandpa

Andrew explaining to us what the Earth looked like when dinosaurs were on the Earth at the Museum of Natural History or...the Dinosaur museum. He was very interested in this interactive display and had a pretty good understanding of what was being demonstrated.

Andrew and grandpa are looking through microscopes at the skulls of a pack rat, voles, and other rodent-like creatures.

Andrew and neighbor enjoying dinner and a show-all in one. The whole process took about 10 minutes and was very fascinating.

Andrew watching the trains at the world's largest model train museum (at least that's what their pamphlet says).

One of the most popular rooms at the museum.

This was the toy train section which had lots of trains moving on the tracks. We left the museum to go get some lunch and went back for round 2 because Andrew enjoyed it so much. Everywhere we walked Andrew was "choo chooing" in a very loud voice (having a great time).

After lunch we rode on the little train in Balboa Park. Balboa Park reminds me of "The Mall" in Washington DC.
After dinner we headed down to the beach because Andrew had told his mom he wanted to visit the beach. I wasn't sure how it would go because Andrew doesn't like to get his face wet but...

Jumping over the waves

He loved every minute. In fact, he was a wild man out there!

Dragging up some seaweed to protect our sand castle

Our sand castle that needed protection

A beautiful sunset to end a wonderful day
